Dan Craici is proud to announce that he has been granted a 2 week residency at the Nelson Art Gallery, where he will hold an exposition on Horology. He will be displaying some of the time gages he has been building for the past year, as well as his own personal collection of timekeeping and watchmaking esoterica.
This event is open to all, so please stop in between July 10th and 24th, 10am to 4pm at the Old Nelson Library in Nelson New Hampshire for a visit. Dan will be happy to discuss, teach and learn any topic dealing with the passage of time, from the philosophical to gear ratios. Bring with you any of your own gages that you would like to share or have looked at.
For the past 2 years, Dan has been studying Horology and has been practicing the art and craft of watch and clock making. It all started with a cheap mechanical skeleton watch he bought on impulse. Of course he had to take it apart to see how it works, and in doing so, broke an extremely small piece off an extremely small part. It turns out that he got an unusually large amount of gratification from wrestling with, cursing at and then eventually fixing that mechanical precision movement. Dan was hooked! That watch movement, now in a new case (made out of telescope parts) and held onto my wrist by the first leather band he ever sewed, and holds top honors in his collection.
